Warner Brothers buys and takes over Marvel!

April 1, 2008

Woah! In a surprise purchase, WB buys out the shares of Marvel Entertainment! In one fell swoop, all my fanboyism shattered into millions of pieces and burned into ashes.

Barry M. Meyer, CEO of WB, said that with the combination of Marvel and WB, they’ll be the biggest, most unstoppable media monolith.

 Of course, this raises some questions about the position of DC, as DC has been backed by WB from animated series to movies. So, now, in terms of, at least, animated shows, movies and the like, Marvel and DC are teaming up. Maybe we can all look forward to a Marvel VS. DC straight-to-DVD feature length flick. Sound tasty? Damn right, it’s tasty.

 Joe Quesada says that it’s a positive forward push, and he’s looking forward to all the projects WB, DC and Marvel might put out in the future. The comics won’t change so much, as WB will only be dealing with the non-comic, non-video game form of media.

 I gotta say, no one saw this coming. And no one ever will. Happy April Fool’s day, guys. Just kidding.

Can’t say “Marvel vs. DC” is a spectacular idea. It’s been done, and it wasn’t that good.

And awesome April Fool’s Joke, sir! You made it sound so real, I almost disseminated this info to my siblings and coworkers. ^^

@Nightdreamer

Well, yeah, it wasn’t all that great, but can you imagine a video game like that?!

Yep, you got me as well.

I remember when I was young, that they did have a collaboration. I think it was Spiderman versus Superman. Didn’t get to buy it though, as I’m sure that it would’ve ended in a draw as these things always seem to end up that way.

Spider-Man/Superman as a comicbook? There are tons of those. My favorite still is Batman/Punisher.

What about Archie/Punisher? No? I have that, and I love it to bits. HATER!
