Iron Man Movie Toys!

Yesterday, April 12, 2008, saw the launch of the Iron Man movie toy selection over at Toy Kingdom at Megamall, Mandaluyong City. Unfortuantely, because I’m a lazy son of a bitch, I didn’t attend. Too bad, too, because there were prizes and goodies and stuff.

For every P500 purchase, you get a poster from Hasbro. It was a pretty sweet poster, too. Although I don’t collect movie franchise figures, even for Spider-Man or Batman Begins, the Iron Man figures and toys were still pretty damn cool. If you’re a big Iron Man fan, though, and you’ve a collection of Iron Man stuff, some of these toys might be must-have.

First off, let’s start with the biggest, coolest one- Repulsor Power Iron Man.

He’s all shiny, and his hands and chest light up, and that alone would make it fun for play. This guy also comes with launching and landing sounds, which is pretty damn nifty. He comes with 3 AAA batteries. Iron Man running on batteries just cracks me up for some reason.

The only thing I don’t like about this figure is that he’s shorter than the Marvel Legends Icons Iron Man, but I guess that’s okay. Just don’t put the two next to each other, maybe. 

This figure goes for $19.99, but it sells for about Php1,700 at TK, though my memory might be failing me, so don’t take that as truth.

Iron Man Mark 1

It’s the standard 6" scale. It’s a nice likeness to the trailers I’ve seen, and it’s got a flame thrower, which is actually just a piece of light orange/red translucent plastic you can launch from his arm. It’s pretty dang cool, really. They sell at $9.99, but in TK, they go for Php 699.75, if I’m not mistaken.

Iron Man Mark 2

Uh, yeah, can you say "meh?" It’s bland, but I guess it should be, because it’s just the Mark 2. Though in the comics, wasn’t his second armor an awesome gold version of the first appearance armor? When worn with the cannons, it looks awkward, like a wussy War Machine.

Like the Mark 1, this also sells for $9.99, and about Php 699.75 at TK. That is, again, if I’m not stupid and read the price tags wrong.

Iron Man Mark 3

Now we’re talking! Awesome likeness of the movie Iron Man. It’s shiny, too! Like the Mark 1 and 2, this is the 6" scale. It’s pretty, and if you’re collecting anything, you really should get this. It has a canon, which attaches to its arm, with a clear blue-ish plastic piece that acts as its ammo. Again, the figure looks best without it.

At TK, I saw a silver and red version of this figure that resembled the Silver Centurion armor, and it might be the chase figure, as it was labelled "special edition." If you’re gonna get it, get it quickly before these run out. The value of that figure might skyrocket.

The price of this figure is like the two before it, $9.99 or Php 699.75 at TK.

Iron Man Prototype

I like this figure. Check it out, it’s got snap-on armor bits. So you can have a helmetless Tony Stark, holding his helmet, among your collection. When you armor him up completely, you have to remove his hands and snap in his gauntlets. As someone who rarely keeps figures in their boxes, unless they’re for resale purposes, I find it hard to keep track of their little pieces. Yes, I play with my figs.

Anyway, this figure also goes for $9.99, and Php 699.75 at TK.

The Iron Monger

Now for the baddie. I don’t think I saw this over at TK, though it looks mighty impressive from the pictures I’ve seen of it online. It looks to be bigger than the Iron Man figures, and a lot less shiny, much like the movie version. I suppose if you want to get figures to resell, this is one of the go-to figs. I’m sure this guy’ll go up in value.

Right now, it sells at $9.99, but since I don’t think I saw it over at TK, I wouldn’t know how much they’ll go for, but I guess it’d be Php 699.75.

Iron Monger (Cockpit Opens)

Like the other Iron Monger figure, I didn’t see this one. It doesn’t look all that different, so maybe if you were to pick an Iron Monger figure, go for the other one. This one’s hatch opens, revealing the pilot. Stane?

This sells for $9.99, too, and going by the same logic with the previous figure, it should go for Php 699.75, too.

Titanium Man

FUCK YES! Titanium Man in DA HAUS!!! He and Crimson Dynamo are two of my favorite Iron Man villians, so I’m glad he’s getting Iron Man movie figure treatment. Is he appearing in the movie? Maybe the next one?! OOOHH!!!

The figure has a canon mountable on the arm, and it doesn’t look as awkward as the other Iron Man figures. Plus, it just looks damn cool. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to spot any of these at TK, but there might be some elsewhere in the country.

They go for $9.99, and maybe if you do find these around these parts, they’d probably go for Php 699.75.

Iron Man Superhero Squad Face-Off

These awesome packages are cheap, cute and kid-friendly, they’re perfect for kids, but I’m sure there are a lot of collectors who buy these, too.

This pack sees the classic fan-favorite Iron Man armor, War Machine, Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man. This is perfect to display on your workstation or office. Show the entire office that you’re one big nerd. Then PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE!!

This pack goes for $9.99, and even though I saw these at TK, I wasn’t able to take note of the price, but I’m assuming they go for Php 699.75.

Iron Man Superhero Squad: Hall of Armor

Here’s your chance! Well, sure they’re super-deformed, and they’re about 2 inches tall, but it’s still a particularly impressive collection of armors. They’d be great for play or display, really. Remember to punch your officemates in the face. In the gums, if possible.

Iron Man Mask and Repulsor Gauntlet

That’s an awesome mask. Really, it is. I’d go to the mall in that thing, and if I get flack for it, I’d annoy them with my disc-shooting repulsor gauntlet. Then I’ll run away.

Although this thing is being marketed to kids, I don’t think it was built for kids. That mask could easily fit my face. And I’d wear it all day, and I’d eat only when no one is looking so no one would find out that Iron Man is really the guy who writes for Comicology.

This sells for $19.99, and again, even though I saw this over at TK, I forgot to take note of the price. I’d say around Php 1,700. Not bad if you wanna live your life-long fantasy of being Iron Man with a disc-shooting gauntlet, which will probably get you beaten the fuck up.

Stark Industries N.R.F. 425 Blaster

Also, I’m not sure if this is what it means, but it says "N.R.F." Does that mean "nerf?" As in the old company that made guns and bows and arrows safe for kids to play with? They did such a monumental job at it, that in the gaming community, when one says something is nerfed, it’s been made weaker; just like the way the old toy manufacturer made firearms weaker and safe for kids.

So getting that. In a few days, I’ll be the proud owner of Stark Industries munitions.

It sells for $19.99, around Php 1,700.
