Iron Man II, Captain America, Thor and Avengers Wishlist!

May 6, 2008

With the news that Marvel officially announced Iron Man II, Captain America, Thor and an Avengers movie, the folks behind Comicology got a collective mega geek boner. For those who don’t know, the full article is up at newsarama, but it basically says that Marvel made a shitload of money off geeks like me.

There’s a smidgen of bad news among all the great things in the announcement. Marvel won’t release any self-produced film in 2009, but starting 2010, there’d be tons to look forward to. Iron Man II is set for an April 30, 2010 release, followed by Thor on June 4, 2010. For 2011, Marvel will have an Avengerama with The First Avenger: Captain America on May 6, 2011, then followed by The Avengers on July, 2011.

Technically, Captain America was the First Avenger Recruit, but he wasn’t even a founding member.

While wrapping our minds on how fucking jaw-dropping awesome those films would be, we decided to make a wish list on these movies. These are the things that we think would make these movies of pure, unadulterated asskickery.

img212/2539/wishlistws8.jpg

Let’s start off with the sequel for Iron Man. The title should be something iconic, like The Invincible Iron Man or The Golden Avenger. It’d be a perfect set-up for the Avengers, too. Iron Man 2 works, too.

However, the most important thing we’d like to see in the sequel is War Machine, baby!

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/9092/warmachine1.jpg

And no, we don’t wanna see no prissy Mark II armor with a new paintjob. We want WAR MACHINE! We want the bulky black and gray/silver armor with a shoulder mounted belt-fed gatling gun and missle launcher, with two wrist-mounted mini-cannons and with lots of fucking attitude. We want our War Machine with a purpose, too, and must play a major role in the plot, and not just to please the fanboys.

About the Iron Man armor, I know Jon Favreau doesn’t like the triangle chest light thing, but I want to see an armor upgrade from Tony Stark. That’s what he’s famous for- the ever-changing, ever-improving armor.  I want to see lots of different types of armor, too. I want to see the hall of armor.

The villian should be the villians, because it’s a sequel and there has to be more than just one enemy. Of course, the rouge gallery list is topped off by The Mandarin, of course. But other than him, who else do I wanna see? Why, The Crimson Dynamo, of course! Hell, I think we should throw in TItanium Man just for good measure.

Crimson Dynamo

img352/7279/ironmanv308317ocdhoruswc8.jpg

Titanium Man

For THOR, I say, they should cast someone who looks like Thor and already carries around a hammer. That’s right. TRIPLE H!

img175/476/1120139751835809834awe9.jpg

And since we’ve seen the story superheroes trying to live in a world that doesn’t understand them, a world they don’t understand time and time again, Thor should take a different approach and not go down the formula. Thor’s story should be an Asgardian tale, much like Thor: Ages of Thunder. It will be fantastic, epic and Lord of the Rings-esque!

Thor would have to deal with Odin, Sif, Baldur, Loki, Fenrir and other guys with names impossible to pronounce! Think of it- Norse god ASSKICKERY! Battling Loki to prevent an early Ragnarok, preventing the destruction of Asgard, the Bifrost Bridge and Midgard, as the inhabitants of Midgard are unaware of what transpires. Midgard folk would be all “wtf is happening?”

img175/1791/175962loki400xi7.jpg

And then, at the end of the movie, Odin, perplexed with Thor’s love for the denizens of Midgard, decides to send Thor into Midgard, Earth, as meek Donald Blake to teach him humility. DUN DUN DUUNN!!! Asskickery, yo! FUCKEN’ ASSKICKERY!

Captain America should work a similar way, because he the first Avenger Recruit, really. Unless they make it seem like there have always been Avengers, and Cap, even back in World War II was already an Avenger, like in the Ultimates.

I think the Captain America movie should take a more somber, grittier tone, placing him as a shining beacon of hope during world war II, being true to his origins.

http://i.imgur.com/iZVRi.jpg

The battles should be ferocious, with Captain America, emerging victorious through the unsettled dust and smoke. Their enemy? Oh, it shouldn’t anyone lesser than THE RED SKULL! Am I right? Putting him against the Red Skull during a World War II setting makes sense, yeah?

http://i.imgur.com/fWfAn.jpg

And at the end of the movie, as he saves the Allies from the Red Skull’s tyrany, he gets blasted off a missle in a last ditch heroic effort and plunges to his apparent death in the Pacific ocean. It’d be perfect- a hero’s death for Captain America! Then at the very last scene, we see him being dragged out of the water by… DUN DUN DUN!! IRON MAN!!!

*GEEKGASMS*

Perfect Avengers set-up.

For the Avngers, the only thing I really wanna see is an extended cast. I want to see people like Hank Pym and Janette Van Dyne, the very first Avengers. Hell, it was Wasp who coined the name.

And I guess it’s too much to ask for, but maybe we can get guest appearances of really iconic Avengers like Vision maybe? Scarlet Witch maybe? Quicksilver? Or probably Hawkeye? Please HAWKEYE PLEASE!

http://i.imgur.com/JFTCd.jpg

Ah, there’s so much to look forward to. We can’t really count on anything at this point, but we all have to be optimistic and just keep our fingers crossed.

Triple H as Thor? Good call! And make him bad ass and I want the new costume. Not the old classic one.

Iron Man and War Machine vs Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo and Mandarin as their leader?

Mandarin’s too traditional and should be modernized and make him like the lord of the chinese triads or something.

Yes to hall of armor!

Captain America and Red Skull? They did that already! Also highlight the importance of bucky!

Steven Seagal should play the role or John Cena for cap! No? Too Much? Okay!!

Hulk should also appear in Avengers!! Spidey should cameo!

*Orgasms*

@avatar

Yes, yes! I forgot about Bucky! They should make him really important in the movie; he should be more than just the teenage sidekick.

No to Steven Segal and John Cena. That’d just suck.

Yeah, I’d love to see some superheroes cameo for the Avengers movie. Maybe a Black Panther? Maybe a Daredevil?

I kinda caught news that the Avengers movie is going to be something like the next step from Beowulf though, all in photorealistic 3d. Still not confirmed yet though.

That would make a lot of sense. Giving this kids individual movies first before putting them together in one movie? Imagine the talent fee the producers got to pay. Unless it’s already in some contract or something.

@avatar

But imagine the AWESOMENESS if all those big names were in a triology of Avengers movies… *sobs because it’s too awesome to fathom*

Posted by comicology at May 7, 2008, 10:43 pm

Who do you want to play as Captain America? Because rumors have been swirling that on the top of Marvel’s list of choices is Matthew McConaughey.

Posted by Coco at May 8, 2008, 12:22 pm

FABIO AS THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!

His nemesis would be: birds that fly into your face while on a roller coaster.

’nuff said.

Posted by Ryan at May 8, 2008, 2:43 pm

@Coco

MATT DAMON!!! Matthew McConaughey has an unspellable last name, and doesn’t look right for the part- too southern. I think that rumor started with an issue of The Ultimates where Nick Fury was casting the Avengers based on what he thought.

He said Johnny Depp should play Iron Man.

@Ryan

Yes, Fabio! Just no pigeons.

Avengers Movie.. It’l be nice to have the Hulk, Iron Man and Thor to start off the Avengers with Giant Man and Wasp.. in search for Captain America.

Then they face Loki and Baron Zemo– with Crossbones, Wrecker and Absorbing Man..

the hulk will eventually leave the avengers at the end of the story..

Then it will end with a teaser of ULTRON.. and an addition of another hero in the line up.. who will just breaks into the wall.. then

He will say “You guys still have room here for one?” — then it will just show a guy with red shades.. and he lowers the shades and shows his red eyes.

Yup its WONDER MAN!!!!

Posted by Gb at June 12, 2008, 2:58 pm

@Gb

Sounds like a good plot you got going on there. I dunno about how well Wonder Man would go over with the non-comic book fans, though.

If they see shades and glowing ionic eyes, they’d think “Oh, Cyclops!”

Posted by comicology at June 12, 2008, 7:23 pm

Well I think Jensen Ackles SHOULD be Captain America. He has the look of a hero, the American acsent voice, and the toughness of Supernatural. I think he could do it.

Villain for the Cap’t should be Red Skull. Red Skull could be played by Viggo Mortensen. Viggo has the history of being a tough guy from LOTR, History of Violence, and Eastern Promises. I think he could be a perfect villain as Red Skull.

For Thor I don’t Know. The villain for Thor should be Loki. I have an idea for Loki. Loki should be played by Mathew Marsden(he was in Rambo and Andacondas 2).

The Iron Man 2 villain should be the Mandarin; unless they make a trilogy, then he needs to be in the third one. Because I think Mandarin is Iron Man greatest villain, and best for last. So one of the villains needs to be either or both Titainium Man and Crymson.

So that’s all I have:

————-Captain America cast—————-

Steve Rogers/Captain America- Jensen Ackles
Johann Schmidt/Red Skull- Viggo Mortensen

——————–Thor cast———————–

Thor- I don’t Know
Loki- Mathew Marsden

———————-Iron Man 2 villain————

Mandarin-possibly
Titanuim Man-possilby
Crymson Dynamo-possibly

@ Luke

Red Skull is the Captain America villian, after all, and Cap doesn’t seem to have such a deep rogue gallery that could be known well enough to sell a movie. So yeah, maybe Hydra? I dunno.

Good choices, man. But I still think Thor should be played by Triple H.

Posted by comicology at July 5, 2008, 12:57 am

Well now I have an actor in mind for Mandarin. Chow Yun Fat. He was awesome in the last Pirates movie, and I hated the last Pirates movie. He is tough, and would make a great villain.

Posted by Luke at July 6, 2008, 8:01 am

deffinitely Red Skull, WWII, and the old costume and shield for the Cap movie, maybe even see FDR give him the new shield. Deffinitely end the movie with the heroic “death,” but after the credits you just see a block of ice appear that you can almost point out that Cap’s inside. Then they find him during the Avengers movie.

@Dross Pedantic

Ah, yes, a man after my own heart. Hopefully, this is the route they take. Unfortunately, I doubt it, mainly because it won’t appeal to everyone, and they want to make as much money on this thing as possible, right? Yeah, so there.

Posted by comicology at August 4, 2008, 9:10 pm

TRIPLE H has the look but not the ACTING. The voice and manerisms of THOR would be to complicated for triple h to pull off. His physique is on point though!

Posted by rudy at August 10, 2008, 12:03 pm

my casting 2 bit:

Thor: Viggo Mortensen
Captain America: Matthew McConaughey

Both movies should be set nowadays with other settings as flashbacks.

Posted by this guy at November 18, 2008, 12:04 am

yo dude, check out my captain america teaser,
It’s part of a bigger trailer in which we tried to mimic that exact style!

@raleigh

Woah. that’s… FUCKING AWESOME!! A little too excessive with the blood splurting, but yeah, man, I can totally see that as being 100% genuine.

i wish that someday there will be a AVENGERS the movie :D
