There's no place like Space Sector 2814.

We will miss you, Michael.

June 29, 2008

Yesterday, as I was preparing something for work, a friend of mine startled me with some shocking and saddening news. He told me that Michael Turner, age 37, had passed away due to cancer.

This sad news has greatly affected the fans, as well as the industry.

According to newsarama, Michael Turner passed away last June 27, 2008 at approximately 10:42 PM in Santa Monica, California.

If you wish to send your condolences to Michael’s family, you may send them to:

Aspen MLT, Inc.
C/O Michael Turner
5855 Green Valley Circle, Suite 111
Culver City, CA, 90230

Back in 2000, Turner was diagnosed with chrondrosarcoma, a type of bone cancer that attacks cartilage. It cost him his right hip, a portion of his pelvis and several pounds of bone. All this time, he never let his life get brought down due to his cancer, even attending conventions.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 not delayed, also Civil War!

June 21, 2008

Marvel Ultimate Alliance has been my favorite game for quite some time now; It’s the ultimate fanboy dream. This was actually more of a spin-off rather than a sequel to X-Men: Legends and X-Men Legends 2: Rise of the Apocalypse.

The game came out a few weeks after Justice Leage Heroes, which was a pretty good game, if a little unbalanced. As soon as MUA did come out, JLH became a distant memory.

I’ve got some details and rumors on Marvel Ultimage Alliance 2, aka THE MOST ASSKICKINGEST GAME EVER TO KICK YOUR ASS FACE IN THE ASS, acquired from different channels of the interwebs.

Woah. The Incredible Hulk Review

June 17, 2008

Hey folks. I’ve been kinda busy with the new job so I haven’t been writing as much as I would like to.  However, I made some time for you guys today. Besides, I had to talk about how fucking awesome The Incredible Hulk is. Look, Edward Norton will tell you himself.

Comicology goes to ToyCon 2008!

June 14, 2008

I just got back from a whole day of unnecessary spending, debauchery and awesomeness known as ToyCon 2008 DAY 1! And I almost became mongoloidal due to the sheer amount of AWESOME that was laid out on which my eyes would feast!

Come with me as I recount my epic adventurous journey of wading through nerd sweat, dodging cosplay swords and attempting (and failing miserably) self control!

Comicology Independence Day Special!

June 12, 2008

Happy Independence Day!!!! At least, to those from the Philippines. That’s what the .ph stood for, by the way.

And since today marks the 110th year since we were given independence by numerous invaders and colonizers, I thought Comicology would put out an article about fictional Filipinos who fight against invasions and colonies! These are the people created by great Filipino minds and artists, whose names are now the stuff of legends!

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to Comicology Independence Day Special: Filipino Superheroes (who aren’t the Triumph Division)

Comic Reviews Continuation- ASM 561 and others!

June 11, 2008

So yesterday, we tackled Invincible Iron Man #2, Avengers/Invaders #2, Daredevil #107 and Secret Invasion #3. Today, we’ll be reviewing the four other comics I picked up over the week- Amazing Spider-Man #561, Immortal Iron Fist #15, New Avengers #41, and Thor: Search for Odin.

This time around, we’ll have five out of five Leonardos as a perfect score.

Comic Book Reviews! Avengers/Invaders #2, Secret Invasion #3 and more!

June 10, 2008

The past couple weeks have been a somewhat disappointing run in comics. Good thing I don’t buy so many since I can’t afford it and my life generally sucks.

We’re reviewing Invincible Iron Man #2, Avengers/Invaders #2, Daredevil #107 and Secret Invasion #3.

Perfect score for this review would be five out of five Punisher skulls, because I’m feeling kinda lazy and they’re easy to manipulate.

For months, we’ve all heard the rumors of Robert Downey, Jr., as Tony Stark, making a cameo in The Incredible Hulk. And now, they have been confirmed!

img392/3030/cameotb6.jpg

It has now been proven! He will be in the movie! There’s a 30 seconder TV spot. Okay, yeah, I tried embedding it, but it won’t get embedded. You’ll have to go straight to youtube to watch it.

Triumph Division? Monks? What the eff?

June 7, 2008

Has anyone here read Invincible Iron Man #2? This post will contain minor spoilers, but nothing to ruin the story of the issue entirely.

img242/9415/spoilersqa7.jpg

Before I get started, I just want to mention that Matt Fraction is still a god, and I still love how he writes. He’s one of the few people who just get it for some reason. And I love him for mentioning the Philippines.

Here’s what’s awesome- Marvel introduced a Filipino Superhero team in Invicible Iron Man #2, the Triumph Divison. These are the members:

Captain America Movie starring Brad Pitt?!?!?

June 3, 2008

img166/2884/captainamericatheatricajb5.jpg

Okay, it’s fake, but it’s still cool. I found it on some forum somewhere.

Nice 3d model he’s got there, very clean texturing. He’s got a nice leathery texture on the gloves, too. Awesome stuff.

Lady Bullseye? Say it aint so, Ed!

June 2, 2008

Ever since Ed Brubaker took the title over from Brian Bendis, Bullseye hasn’t been a main focus or a main antagonist in the Daredevil stories. The only time we see him was in that amazing issue where he gets shipped into Ryker’s and he helps Fisk and Matty boy escape.

img516/6761/250pxbullseye5zq6.jpg

Bullseye is one of those iconic villians that aren’t defined by their main superhero counterpart. It only makes sense that, just like Doctor Octopus, Kraven, Loki and just about every other iconic villian (and sometimes hero), he gets a counterpart of the opposite sex. Yes, really.

Come September, Ed Brubaker will be introducing Lady Bullseye. I’m not fucking with you. Lady Bullseye.
