Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 not delayed, also Civil War!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance has been my favorite game for quite some time now; It’s the ultimate fanboy dream. This was actually more of a spin-off rather than a sequel to X-Men: Legends and X-Men Legends 2: Rise of the Apocalypse.

The game came out a few weeks after Justice Leage Heroes, which was a pretty good game, if a little unbalanced. As soon as MUA did come out, JLH became a distant memory.

I’ve got some details and rumors on Marvel Ultimage Alliance 2, aka THE MOST ASSKICKINGEST GAME EVER TO KICK YOUR ASS FACE IN THE ASS, acquired from different channels of the interwebs.

So, the game was supposed to see a 2009 release, as it was rumored to be delayed, along with Spider-Man: Web of Shdows, which is another game I’m really looking forward to. Apparently, it is generally believed that they have not been delayed and will be released in 2008. I’m guessing it’d be a fairly late release, maybe last quarter. I haven’t read news, so I’m not too sure.

Another spicy tidbit about Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, aka THE MOST AWESOME SHIT YOUR NERDY FINGERS WILL EVER GET A HOLD OF… EVER, is that it will be based on the semi-recent Civil War arc.

You get to pick a side, and you get to see it out to the end. Maybe if you pick Captain America, you won’t get your ass shot in front of a courthouse on your way to trial. Hopefully.

For the unfamiliar with the Civil War storyline, it’s about the Superhuman Registration Act, which was passed into being a law because of an incident at Stamford, Connecticut, where a reality-show superhero team, The New Warriors, fucked up and Nitro blew up lots of kids and did billions worth of property damage. This caused a rift between the heroes.

The heroes who believed in the SRA sided with the government, registering their identities and abilities to the government. This movement was spearheaded by Tony Stark, Iron Man, and supported by greatest minds of the Marvel Universe- Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Hank Pym (Yellowjacket (Well, most of the time he’s Yellowjacket))

The heroes who believed this was a violation of their rights went into hiding and formed a Secret Avengers. This team was led by the greatest leader of the Marvel Universe, Captain America. Some of the the most notable members of this team are Daniel Rand (At the time, pretending to be Daredevil), Hercules, Sam Wilson (The Falcon), Luke Cage, and Bill Foster (Goliath).

Now, if you aren’t excited for the game yet, you’re either high or stupid. Or both.

From what I read, this information was supposed to have been gathered from a marketing survey, which said it’d follow a storyline which will let you choose a side in a conflict, and you get to choose your team, and assemble a team of more than 20 characters. There are also rumors of having a power combination thing going. Maybe you can combine Daredevil’s Extensive Strike, which was his billy club throw thing, and Captain America’s Shield Throw, which is… well, it’s when Cap throws his shield, creating an awesome attack of Extensive Throw! I have no idea what that is, either, or how the hell that’s going to be effective in any way, shape or form.

The character list has already been impressive, but I wish they do not remove any character from the list and add a few others. Here’s a short list of some of the characters I wish they’d add to the next game:

Hercules (Incredible Hercules is a success anyway, yo)
The Sentry
Nova
Bob, Agent of Hydra (…what? I like him)
The Punisher

If those guys get added, it’d be the most awesome thing in the universe ever. EVER! But hey, the roster is still pretty much up in air, and your guess, although not as good as mine, is just as valid as mine. So, hey, here’s to hoping it’d be a kick-ass game.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance has been out for about a year and a half now, I think. MUA2 and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows aren’t yet.

And yeah, they should be available here.
