Batman Gotham Knight- WHATTHEFUCKERY!
July 15, 2008“What the fuck” would describe the entire direct-to-DVD animated of DC’s Dark Knight, Batman. This post may be considered spoilery, but trust me, you’d appreciate the warning before you put that bad boy into your player and get your brain fucked by a man in a rubber bat suit.
Before I go on, like I mentioned earlier, this is going to be spoiler-filled, because there is absolutely no way one can discuss the digitized crack contained within these discs while being spoiler-free. I don’t think you’d be buying this shit for the storyline anyway, so read on anyway.
Let’s talk about the two-disc package first. On paper, it should be worth your money. You have disc 1 with a sneak preview of the upcoming direct-to-dvd animated movie, Wonder Woman, trailers and some other stuff and the main movie. The Wonder Woman preview made me excited, so if it can do that for someone who doesn’t really care much for the character, then it must be good, right?
The second disc has four amazing episodes from the award-winning classic Batman: The Animated Series. That, I think, alone, would have been worth my P650. It also comes with two other features about Batman’s Rouges Gallery (Mirror for the Bat) and about the creator of Batman, Bob Kane (Batman and Me, a Devotion to Destiny). Fantastic stuff. I would have paid P650 for the second disc. And I would have even allowed a man to stick a finger up my butt.
The special set had a booklet- a small reference for some Batman characters with history, powers and abilities and regular comic book bio stuff. That was a nice addition, though I could’ve probably done without it. It’s nice to read while shitting though.
Now, we get to the cracktastic part.
The first thing you’ll notice would be the art direction. It’s Japanese animation, of course, as advertised. Some of you might like it, some of you might not. I, for one, am not a big fan of the art style, but I love how the Japanese animate. It’s one storyline but with six different art styles. They probably thought “Hey, it worked for Animatrix. It’s gotta work for us! Plus, BATMAN!”
There is a part where Batman looks like he just reached puberty, but has deep-set bedroom voice.
In “Working Through Pain,” Bruce gets a block of wood broken across his head. Okay, I’ll give him the “feel no pain” bit, but how does feeling no pain stop him from getting a fucking concussion!? “I FEEL NO PAIN AND APPARENTLY MY BRAIN DOESN’T MOVE BACK AND FORTH IN MY SKULL!!”
He can also fly here, apparently. Not just glide. He flies forward. ….the hell?!
Seriously.
And I knew Batman could do a lot of shit, even breathe in space, but up until the DVD, I didn’t know he had the power to punch a FUCKING BULLET after it was FIRED FROM A RIFLE! WHAT THE HELL!??!?!??!
Goddamn it got so annoying. This’ll please a ton of fanboys, for sure. And because of those fanboys, DC and WB will make money. Each fanboy buys one copy. Those who like animé and are interested in Batman will get a copy. And those completists will probably gets five copies of this abnormal shit.
To say the least, I was disappointed. Oh well, here’s to hoping The Dark Knight doesn’t rub me the same way.

But with the way you described how hard the DVD package rocks balls, I think I’ll cancel the ongoing torrent download and get me an original copy of Gotham Knights. One question though — is this movie really a conduit between Batman Begins and TDK?

It’s supposed to, but there are timeline issues, like the Bat Mansion being upright even after it was supposed to have burned down in Batman Begins.
