Fin Fang Foom Series, Marvel Legends released in the Philippines!

I squealed like a little bitch earlier today when I made my usual pass around Toy Kingdom at SM Makati. I saw, in the corner of my eye, The Absorbing Man, as I was checking out the Iron Man figure that comes with a car. And lo and behold, they released both waves at the same time. If you’ve got some money lying around, you can put your Fin Fang Foom together now.

HUZZAH! The long wait has finally ended! Although I wasn’t really looking forward to this series, I wanted to see how much they improved the figures in the line. I am, however, a little disappointed. Before I get to that, here’s the line-up:

Now, onto the disappointments.

First off, the price tag- it’s a bit of the hefty side. For P1099, it’s at Mattel DC prices, which doesn’t really bode well for the line. They can, however, justify this because the figures are fucking huge. They are huge and heavy. The figures are made of soft plastic, but they’re solid. Fin Fang Foom parts are generally hollow, and chances are, they Foom parts will be lighter than your actual figures.

The paint looks like the paint after the figures were recalled for lead traces- horrible. You know what, FUCK THE LEAD! I won’t fucking eat those goddamed things! Put the lead back in and you’ll have better figures! The paint on these figures make them look cheap- very cheap. Especially on the FOOM parts.

Articulation is still fucked. Yes, the double jointed knees are back. But for some odd reason, the only figure I bought, Doc Samson, didn’t have ball-jointed hips. He had this weird double-joint pins, which restrict the movement quite a lot. It really annoys the fuck out of me. He’s got those wrists that make him look like he’s wearing long sleeves. His fingers and hands have no articulation, nor do his toes. The boots don’t swivel, just the feet. Shoulders are ball-joints, it seems, but aren’t very articulated. Plus, Samson has hair, so his head can’t move as much. Articulation has me greatly disappointed.

What I do like is the sculpting. Nice details- the veins and rips and stuff. If only the paint was up to snuff, then they’d be wonderful figures to display.

The other figures, I haven’t checked out, but Foom, when built, would look mighty impressive. That is, if you’ve got P8792.00 to spare. Stocks are still looking good, I saw every one except She-Hulk, which I’m sure will be the figure to chase after here. Her, and Son of Hulk.

Hopefully, when the two-packs come out, they won’t be this bad, if you can call it bad. There are rumors that the Philippine release for the two-packs will be sold by set only. So, if you’re looking for just Ronin, you’d have to be willing to drop P6k for all of them.
