Comicology Comic Reviews!
August 25, 2008My pull list has not been getting bigger, but they were certainly good. I haven’t been writing these reviews lately, because well, I simply didn’t have the time. Now that I found some spare minutes, and some notable comic moments in the stack I just read, I thought I’d give a review.
This time around, however, I won’t be posting the cover to each one. I don’t know if this’ll be the trend. It just takes too much effort, unfortunately. What I can do, however, is link it.
For this week, perfect score would be five Venoms, like so-
Anyone else disappointed in (not so) Secret (anymore) Invasion?
August 20, 2008Yeah, thought so. You and everyone else. It’s “meh” so far. But here at Comicology, we don’t lose hope. Ever. The same way we know we will lose our virginities someday. We hope. And through that relentless, unwavering hope, we shall achieve both virginity loss and a good issue of Secret Invasion.
So, let’s have a recap.
Lemme start this off by saying that my initial guess of Maria Hill was wrong. Okay, maybe she would’ve been too obvious a choice? But then again, so is Hank Pym, Yellowjacket. He was the Skrulliest bastard in the entire MU. Well, next to Tony, that is.
On a sidenote, Skrull guns look awfully like the ghost detectors from Ghost Busters. (P.K.E. Meter, thanks to Rein Alamis for the correction) Maybe they have the same engineers. That must mean the Ghost Busters are all fucking Skrulls. Aaaaanyway, moving on. (more…)
The Triumph Division (They’re not that dead)
August 13, 2008You guys remember Matt Fraction’s Triumph Division from his Invincible Iron Man? You know, the guys who got blown up to fucken’ smithereens? After doing that, he went on record saying not to count the Triumph Division out just yet.
Well, Matty-boy didn’t let us down. I love how he put that whole spin on the heritage thing, and he says it’s been going on for centuries. So our heroes are sort of like the Immortal Iron Fist? Cool stuff.
Check it out, they’ve even got their very own (albeit very empty) Wiki page.
So, the successors of the slain heroes are from the family of the ones that Zeke Stane blew up, but the relationships are unknown. I doubt we’d get even a one shot of the Triumph Division, but since Matt Frac created such lush playground for stories, here’s to hoping that we see Iron Man pay them a visit.
“The Philippines are in good hands.” said Iron Man. They are, indeed. But you know what, Salvador Larocca could at least draw the fucken’ headquarters like a decent HQ, and not a cement nippa hut, godddamn it.
Fury Files! 3 3/4 inch Marvel Figures!
August 6, 2008As much as I love the 6″ line, its future seems bleak, at best. With the increased gas prices and all, it’s just not a sustainable and profitable venture for Hasbro anymore. They’ve already gone away with the BAFs, which is fine by me, I can’t afford a full one anyway.
But now, during the SDCC, they announced the release of the 3 3/4 inch figures! And these figures are looking SWEET. The new figures will be released under the Fury Files banner, and for an awesome video, and more information, go to this website. FURY FILES, BABY!!
Marvel Legnds 2-Pack Review: Elektra, Ronin and Forge
August 3, 2008After my frantic search all over Metro Manila to find the extremly elusive and shortpacked Elektra/Ronin and Wolverine/Forge, I finally able to acquire said action figured. It wasn’t easy, I had to seduce a few stock boys and I had to pleasure them orally. I rejoiced and thanked the high heavens for putting me at the right place at the right time to get these things. They’re out of stock in every major toy store around the metro, from what I hear. So, if you want it, TOUGH SHIT, HAHA!
Okay, let’s get right down to it. How did the latest two-packs from Hasbro do? In the toy collecting communities, Hasbro has been getting the rep of taking the perfection known as Toybyz’s Marvel Legends line and fucking it in the face with a mallet specifically designed and manufactured for face fucking.
A whole new definition for KICK ASS: Punisher: War Zone and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
August 1, 2008Soooooo…. awesome.
