Are you ready to be disappointed?
September 30, 2008I posted about the awesomeness of Hasbro’s 3 3/4 inch Fury Files action figures a few weeks back, and I speculated that they looked as if they were destined to destroy the 6 inch line entirely. I opened up Marvelousnews today, and got the wind knocked right out of me.
All my excitement got flushed down the crapper, along with the hopes of ever seeing a new 6 inch line reach our shores. Seriously, if the 3 inchers are crap, and no one buys them, Hasbro might give up the ML line for good. And that, my friends, that’s not good.
We all know that in the toy collecting business that prototypes and initial shots will never be like the mass produced ones. For one thing, creating one figure could allow the sculptor to give the item more time and attention, the plastic used will be of better quality and shots were probably ’shopped. A little degradation of quality is to be expected. Just like I was taken aback when I saw that the Nemesis Wave Frank Castle looked like a mongoloid.
So if you’re ready to feel a little disappointed, read on.
To the left are the actual products, and the ones on the right are the initial prototype shots.

Black Panther- Look at that! HAPPYMEALIZED! Can you see how much shinier the prototype is, and how cheap-looking the actual product feels? The biggest disappointment would be his hands. The protype’s hands look viscious; the actual products’ hands feel like they’re getting ready to give a massage to someone’s testicles.

Thanks again, guys!
Iron Man 2 Updates
September 18, 2008Iron Man is, for me, the best movie of 2008. Yeah, I know 2008 isn’t over yet, but unless Tropic Thunder can top Iron Man, it’ll stay at the top of my list. Yes, yes, I liked it better than Dark Knight. I’m not necessarily saying Dark Knight is bad (because it isn’t), I just enjoyed Iron Man more, because I didn’t have to listen to a guy sound like he needed some strepsils or go wtf at the ending monologue.
For those wondering, no, that’s not the official poster. That came from the video game concept art, if I’m not mistaken, and I just put the I from “Iron Man” twice in the back.
Here are the updates, according to Favreau: (more…)
Mortal Kombat VS DC- Comicology Update
September 15, 2008A few months ago, I wrote about it, and deemed it what-the-fuckable, and being very iffy about it, thinking that it’s going to be either a watered down MK or a slightly better DC game. With the rumors about it not having blood and being kept at a PG rating, I had my doubts and thought this was going to be a bust.
I’m a little less skeptical now. With the influx of new media and announcements, this game has made me moist up my panties.
Here are a couple of updates and a few of my favorite youtube videos of fatalities and whatnot.
Manila Comic Con Update
September 11, 2008Hey guys. There’s a new update over at the Manila Comic Con page. Here it is:
Hobbylink Productions, Inc has agreed to postpone the Manila Comic Con. This difficult decision is based on the request of the co-presenters, sponsors and the general public to move the event to a bigger venue and a later date to give them more ample time to prepare for such event. The large interest for the people to attend this event might make the current venue difficult to hold and execute the program well and we are currently in negotiation in a location that will hold such amount of people. We will be announcing the new venue and date in the next few weeks.
We are sorry for this delay and thank you for all your support in this event. Such positive comments made the organizers more motivated to give you a bigger and more exciting Manila Comic Con.
That logo, by the way, isn’t the official one. I just made that one.
The organizers called me up early this morning, and they tell me that the delay will cause a lot of improvements. The next venue will be announced in the comings weeks. Keep checking here and keep checking the Manila Comic Con website for further updates.
Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow Review
September 7, 2008I just indulged myself in a DVD-viewing to which I’ve been looking forward for a couple months now. And I’ve already sat down and tried to gather my toughts about it, and I’m still unsure if I liked it or not.
Like what I said the last time I talked about this DVD, it’s about the kids of the Avengers. The original Avengers were slain and Tony kept the children hidden from the world, training them and raising them. Tony trained them in the use of their powers and told them who their parents were, but never told them who he was.
Ultra Delayed 2nd half of Comic Reviews
September 3, 2008This is the continuation of the review from the last time. I have four more titles to review. Yes, because I’m poor like that.
Again, there will be no cover art, because I’m lazy like that. The job I have is sucking the life out of me. It really is. -_-Anyway, the perfect score this time around is five Mandarins.
