X-Men Origins: Wolverine The Game, Reviewed!

May 30, 2009

What’s the best way to see your favorite superheroes come to life, in all their awesomeness, showcasing all of their powers against countless minions and obstacles? Why, imagination of course! IMAAAGINAAAAASSSHUUUNNN!!! The next best way is to play them in video games. Well, good ones, at least.

In my quest to play all Marvel/DC based video games, there are times when I come across movie property video games, and they don’t have a very good record. Admittedly, move versions of superheroes sometimes exercise too much creative freedom, and a lot of the video game versions of those movies are horrible or subpar, at least. The only notable exceptions I can think of are the Spider-Man games, especially SM2, and Tom Jane’s Punisher, where the games are tons better than the movies regardless of the difference from the source material. Will Wolverine join this list?

Open Letter to Mr. Alec Baldwin (Better known as The Shadow)

May 25, 2009

Dear Mr. Alec Baldwin (or Mr. The Shadow, as you are more famously known)

http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/3041/shadowalecbaldwinl.jpg

First off, I’m a huge fan of yours. 30 Rock is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen that has Tina Fey in it. Speaking of Tina Fey, she’s one hot momma, isn’t she? Um, yeah. Anyway, I am from the Philippines and I think you know why I’m writing this. It just has to be said, Mr. Baldwin.

Featured Collector- spiderman1992 from PTK!

May 14, 2009

Every now and then, I come across toy collectors who either show so much passion for it that they’re labeled a danger to themselves and to society, or those who collect with so much fervor and obsession that they absolutely have to collect everything that has something to do with their line. Over at PTK, I stumbled upon an image of a collection diorama that filled me both green, green envy, geeky glee and burning anger at my financial situation.

Everybody, meet  Ace, also known as spiderman1992 over at PTK. He is not under any legal pressure from Marvel to change his name to something that violates trademark laws a little less just yet. Besides, the dude’s only 16. When I was 16, all I was concerned with were boobies. But what makes spiderman1992 special isn’t his age and his almost unparalled obsessive geekiness at his age; it’s his action packed dioramas and uber wide collection range.

Comicology: Hey man, thanks for agreeing to this. I was running out of things to write about.

spiderman1992: No problem sir, I’m also glad to participate :)

10" Wolverine Figure

May 12, 2009

A few months ago, I kept complaining about the new X-Men costume designs; I thought Simone Bianchi’s work was a bit off. I am not a fan of that X badge and Cyclops’ new costume. Wolverine’s costume was, well, not so bad. It wasn’t great. For me, it wasn’t any better than the Astonishing Wolvie costume. The reason why I didn’t outright dismiss Bianchi’s work is because under the right penciller, Bianchi’s Wolverine actually looked pretty goddamned bad ass.

Now, Hasbro is releasing the first Wolverine action figure in that costume:

I don’t know the details about the price, but I’m betting it’d be around the price of the Icons figures, even though this is a 10″ figure, and not 12″.

How do those sleeves not ride up? Are those, like, glued to his arms? Damn it. I like how the boots look like he can do a ton of acrobatic/athletic work in them. The gloves are fine but they could be less rubbery/ringy/textured. Remove the goddamn X badge and put it on his belt, and you’ve got a great costume.

I know a lot of people who would kill for a 6″ version of this. I know I would.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Review

May 5, 2009

Everyone and their mildly retarded cousins have written a review of this movie, but I would still very much like to impart my impressions of the film. Don’t worry, I’ll make it short and sweet, just long enough until your patience barely runs out on me.

http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/3664/bannerklv.jpg

Right off the bat, I can tell you that X-Men Origins: Wolverine was just “meh” for me. Okay, maybe not “meh” but more of a “meh, hm…..” because there were parts and aspects of it that I really enjoyed and bits of it that I felt should’ve been left out, changed or unchanged. Let’s start with the positive.

First Official Image from Iron Man II

May 4, 2009

This is the first offical image from Iron Man 2.

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/4913/r02000rscaled600.jpg

Those suits of armor behind RDJr look like Hot Toys figures. Ooh, lookie, there are two red and gold suits. The one to the far right looks sleeker and less bulky. So, could it be the final production model of the concept art I showed you guys a few months ago? Here it is again, for good measure:
