Every now and then, I come across toy collectors who either show so much passion for it that they’re labeled a danger to themselves and to society, or those who collect with so much fervor and obsession that they absolutely have to collect everything that has something to do with their line. Over at PTK, I stumbled upon an image of a collection diorama that filled me both green, green envy, geeky glee and burning anger at my financial situation.

Everybody, meet Ace, also known as spiderman1992 over at PTK. He is not under any legal pressure from Marvel to change his name to something that violates trademark laws a little less just yet. Besides, the dude’s only 16. When I was 16, all I was concerned with were boobies. But what makes spiderman1992 special isn’t his age and his almost unparalled obsessive geekiness at his age; it’s his action packed dioramas and uber wide collection range.

Comicology: Hey man, thanks for agreeing to this. I was running out of things to write about.

spiderman1992: No problem sir, I’m also glad to participate

C: So tell me, why did you even start to like Marvel? Or DC? Or any comic related anything for that matter?

SM1992: I liked Marvel because of Spider-man, he’s my favorite superhero

C: When did you start collecting Marvel Legends? What made you do it?

SM1992: At first I really wasn’t into collecting, I was just buying the characters I liked. I started collecting when they released the build a figure series. I was very excited about it; it was Galactus Marvel Legends first BAF, I still remember the excitement. (lolZ)

C: You, being 16, probably aren’t gainfully employed yet. Are you even in college yet? How were you able to buy all of these? You must have some pretty supportive parents? Also, I am up for adoption.

SM1992: Yes, I’m in college, taking up the food technology program in UST . I saved my allowance and my father bought some of my figures (thanks pops!). Yes, my parents are very supportive, especially my father

C: How did you come up with such an awesome and dynamic diorama? And how long did that take you? Do you move it around constantly or do you keep it as it is?

SM1992: Maybe because I just love action! (lolz) I tried to display my figures and I think it’s kinda boring just to see them standing and, by the way, It’s not all my idea. Some of the poses of the figures were my fathers’. It took us a whole day (lolz). if i have the time to change the poses, why not?

C: That’s some awesome stuff. Thank you for taking time out of your toy-admiring schedule to have a little chat with us. Someday, I hope to get married to an old, rich crone and buy a lot of toys just so I can be like you.

That diorama looks like the cover of a fricking universe-changing Marvel U event. I’m not sure if I want to kick this kid in the nuts or make out with him.

I vote the latter, just because.

Anyhoo, this kid makes me think about what I was doing when I was 16, and it’s sure as hell wasn’t amassing tons of action figures without having any means of sustainable income. But that’s the way of the universe, and that, sir, is a pretty awesome collection.
