This is from Niki Fenke. After doing some research, it turns out that NIki Fenke is a Deadline Hollywood reporter. She was talking about Bob Iger, head of Disney, and Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel.
“Content-wise, the two moguls agreed that Marvel would continue to operate independently of the notoriously micro-managing Disney in the same way that Miramax did under the Weinstein Brothers. Though that probably won’t make even hardcore fanboys feel better about the deal they’re pissing on all over the Internet yesterday and today. (Given what Iger likes to refer to as the “combustion of digital word of mouth” that operates these days, Iger and Perlmutter have their work cut out for them trying to get skeptical fanboys to believe that Disney has no intention of altering the creative approach which Marvel takes to its comic books and movies. Of course, it helps the corporate confluence between the two companies that Marvel’s movie fare has been and will be “PG-13″.)
What this basically means is that Disney will not fuck with the way Marvel handles its characters. That should let me sleep a little more soundly. With deeper pockets, larger budgets and the characters we’ve grown to love, Marvel’s future looks bright. At least, I hope so.

I guess that mostly depends on the directors and actors Marvel Studios decides to employ. Like Disney said, it’ll be a Pixar/Disney or Disney/Miramax type of relationship, meaning that Marvel is still a separate brand.
If Marvel Studios produces a crapfest of a movie, it won’t be solely because of the Marvel purchase; at least, optimistically.

They’ve already signed for it. I think Cowboys and Aliens shoots 2010 for a 2011 release and Avengers shoots 2011 for a 2012 release. Iron Man 3 could shoot 2012, I guess.

I was expecting that would happen. So after the initial shock, when I realized that Disney’s deep pockets were good for Marvel, I welcomed Disney-Marvel like any good fanboy should.
