Hall of Heroes Haul!

I’m currently in a in the state of settling into a new job. That means I have yet to receive my old job’s last pay and I have yet to be paid in the new job. I am broke, at the moment. However, my dad is not. BWAAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAA!!! This post and this haul is brought to you by my dad’s credit card.

A few days ago, I was telling you guys about the Hall of Heroes event happening over at Robinson’s Ermita, right? They extended it by a day because today just so happens to be a legal holiday. Hooray! I went over and grabbed a couple figs, mostly 3.75″ and I’m selling off the Goliath 12″ fig that came with the pointy-masked Iron Man.

Here be my haul:

I got the Gigantic Battles Iron Man with Goliath, the running variant Iron Fist and Wave 5 “Silver Centurion” (BULLSHIT) Iron Man. I do not want the Goliath fig, so I’m selling him for P1700.00. If you want him, comment or get in touch with me at 0922-8157452.

I bought this for P2199.00. I really did just get it for the Iron Man figure, the one with the pointy-face plate. The figure I’m selling off, Goliath, is pretty neat. It’s got the old Irons Cyclops body with standard HML Icons articulation. Paint apps are clean, and there’s some wash that really brings out the detail. Costume creases are sculpted in, which makes it a pretty neat figure. I’m selling it off for P1700.00

The Iron Man figure is the same as the Wave 4 classic Iron Man, only the hands aren’t doing that high five pose. Instead, the hands look like they’re shooting off a repulsor blast. For some reason, the body is shiny but the mask is not. The pointy mask looks very plastic-y and frail. Oh well, paint apps are decent. That’s a lot more than I can say for the rest of the Wave 5 figures.

Marvel Universe Wave (I don’t remember): Running variant change Iron Fist. It is disappointing.

There are a few changes that I like, but the overall quality of this figure is so much worse than the original “yellow” Iron Fist. The running variant makes Danny Rand more comic accurate, with the black dragon tattoo symbol thingy instead of the older yellow one. This is why people refer to the old one as the yellow one or, to be more technical, the Iron Palm. That’s probably the best change of all. This time, Iron Fist finally has a fist.

There are also minor changes, such as the color. The new Iron Fist is a much deeper green, which I think does look better. The ankles no longer go up and down as far as the old one. In fact, they barely do. Instead they do a 360, which is quite honestly more annoying than useful. There’s no more green hinge joint showing amidst a yellow boot though.

There really is no better figure, though. I think the quality on the older one is better, but I also think the fist and black dragon suit Iron Fist a lot more. Paint apps on the newer Iron Fist is so fucking sloppy and mine has a bum joint. I guess it boils down to personal preference then.

Marvel Universe Wave 5: Silver Centurion Iron Man

Now, to you, this looks like a simple repaint, yes? THAT’S BECAUSE IT IS!

So it looks 100% exactly like the Wave 1 Iron Man, the pre-extremis armor, only given a Silver Centurion paint job. The dossier says that Pym messed with a spare armor and made the color resemble Silver Centurion. Um, okay, Hasbro; you really didn’t have to try and explain yourselves out of this one, I would’ve still bought it.

It looks good, just like the Wave 1 one. Not much else to say about it, except that it’s got silver (gray) where the gold’s supposed to be. The red stays where it is. Well, pinkish red. And the eyes are blue.

The one thing I noticed when I took it out of the package is that it was oily as fuck, like a greased up teenager about to go on his first date. I recommend cleaning your hands before eating anything after holding this guy. He’s lead-tastic. Oh, and there’s a lot of bleeding in the paint apps. I recommend to give your figure a hard look before paying for it.

Gigantic Battles: Iron Man and Goliath

So, the figure I was really after was Iron Man, so I’m selling Goliath. P1700, okay, guys?

I already talked about Goliath, so let’s focus on why I bought this bad boy in the first place- pointy mask Iron Man. I like it. I like it a lot. I like it a hell of a lot more than than Wave 1. I like the hand sculpt and I like how shiny it is.

I had to fix his hip disc thing (nerds would know it as his anti-gravity disc) because it leaned a bit to his back, but that’s because of the way he was posed in the box.

See? He’s way cool. Good paint apps, good articulation, good sculpt. He comes with a 12″ figure, too. If you’re a Goliath fan, grab this set, you won’t regret it.

I went there pretty early and absolutely no one was around, so I don’t know what would’ve went on at the event itself. I’m happy with my purchases, I landed good figures and that’s a lot more than I can say for the Super Friends and Army Builder 3 packs. They’re overpriced and the paint apps are horrible! I even saw a SHIELD agent with black spots on his face and an Iron Fist with no dragon on his chest.
