Be A Hero.

As you all know, a motherfucker of a storm hit us last Saturday, September 26, 2009. Again, let me reiterate- it was one motherfucker of a storm. If you were cut off from any form of media until today, here are some pics that might help you gauge the level of destruction this Ondoy brought upon us.Click here and here.

Here at Comicology, we talk about super heroes, toys, comics, games and movies. While we can all argue that these things are valuable to us, they are definitely not necessary for survival. However, there are people, about an hour’s drive from where you are right now, who were stripped of everything that is vital to life and right now, they are going through a hell I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. If we can afford action figures, toys, comics, DVDs and video games, we can afford to help out. We can afford to donate some money, at the very, very least..

This hit very close to home, so yes, I am asking for your help. My family is fine now, but there are those who aren’t.  Donate to the Red Cross, guys. Let’s help those who need it. MLQ3’s Tumblr has all the details on how to help. Donating to Red Cross via texting in is the easiest way, as far as I can tell. Follow the instructions on the poster (which you may reblog if you like).Denominations are as follows: P2, P25, P50, P100, P300.

So the synax would look like this- “RED 100.” Then send that over to the designated numbers

You may also donate through Philippine Aid.

You could bring clothes, water, blankets, ready-to-eat food to all Petron branches, Team Manila, Radio Veritas (Veritas West Ave, cor EDSA), all Luca stores, and Ateneo De Manila University (MVP Lobby). ADMU is also accepting volunteers. DLSU will accept relief goods tomorrow  by 8:30 am. For volunteers please be there  by 8am at the South Gate benches.

Superhero costume totally optional but would kick ass. Pics get a prize from Comicology.

TXTPower is now also accepting donations for Ondoy typhoon victims via SmartMoney 5577514418667103, GCash 09179751092 and Paypal.

Here are pics from my house:

Wow, waterfalls! Notice how I tried closing the door halfway to see if the water would slow down.

People drinking in front of my house, on top of my uncle’s yellow jeep. Yeaaaahhhh, man.  We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

This is an excellent post, Bim. I am grateful for comic book people who are showing concern for important stuff like this. We’re all in this together. I think I should also post something similar.

@marco

Sorry, man. I wasn’t so sure about the time. I’m happy you found the time to volunteer.

@Markus

We are all in this together. If you wanna help out, please promote Philippineaid.com. It’s a site that accepts donations from people abroad. The goal is to reach $5000. It was launched today and it has already received more than $3000. That can do a lot of good.

I donated some relief goods and volunteered over at White Space. They’ve got a lot of people, though. They definitely won’t need peeps. They need stuff though.
