Remember when I posted that call to volunteer, Be A Hero? I said if you come in a superhero costume to a relief center and you send me pics of your lapse in judgement, you’ll win a prize. Now, those were the rules, right? No super hero costume, no prize. Sadly, this isn’t the first Comicology contest ever conceived. No one really just gave enough of a fuck to join. Much to my suprise, someone sent in his relief effort pics.

This really makes me happy, to be quite honest. This means there is, at least one guy out there, who reads Comicology. I remember having a contest last Christmas for a Skull Candy headset. No one joined. I hate you all, by the way.

For some unknown reason, Marco Ilao, known as flightmarco on PTK (at least, I think that’s him) sent in his pictures from his relief effort.

The emails completely caught me by surprise. Dude sent in 3, with about 10 pics each. I just picked the ones I liked best. No one ever sent me anything before. It took me about 5 minutes figuring out why the fuck anyone would send me pics of a relief effort. I even figured they were from the people who organized the one over at White Space, because I volunteered there last night. Then I saw the name “Marco” and I made the connection between that one line I wrote, which I thought no one was going to take seriously, and the email.

He took pics with his cellphone, and that’s why the images are kinda grainy, but that’s okay. They’re fine, dude. Also, look at how creative and artistic Lasallian students are. Oh, and their handwriting is so good, too.

Here he is! Well, I think that’s him.

For the record, a Flash t-shirt does not constitute a fucking costume. If that were the case, I’d be in costume everyday. However, you do get plus points for the sweet shirt. You win, good sir, one of the two animation cells from the Amazing Spider-Man cartoon series from the 90’s. Pick one cell. Had you worn an actual costume, you would’ve gotten both of them.

Congratulations, dude. Now, I’m gonna have to figure out a way to send this thing to you. Oh, and because there is a glimmer of hope that yes, there might be future participation, the Peter Parker animation cell will be up for grabs come Christmas time (should the Philippines or this particular animation cell survives Pepeng) through a contest which has yet to be decided.

thanks sir, haha. didn’t know i had to give a costume..even i don’t have one, haha. i’ve been reading comicology for about half a year now..oh, if ever the CollectIcon in Robinson’s Ermita won’t be cancelled will you go there? maybe we can meet up there? haha.

Yeah, something like a contest. I hope I’d get more participants this time around! I trust you guys would spread the word? But that’s for Christmas, though.

I’ll announce what the contest will be on November. It won’t be anything difficult anyway. I also have two Spider-man cells with Marvel certificates of authenticity. Only 500 produced. I’m thinking I should give those away for Christmas, too.

An animation cell is one key frame that serves as the beginning motion for a sequence. The movement is done through a process called tweening, where frames in between a start and end animation frames are created.
