Iron Man 2 Figures Unboxing Mark 1, Mark VI, Power Assault
March 15, 2010About a week ago, I posted about my latest geek acquisition. I know the spending will bite me in the ass sooner rather than later, but hey, very seldom do I splurge these days. I can honestly say that each figure from this line is well worth the 450 bucks. Okay, they could be a little cheaper, but they are made of awesome and happiness.
In this post, I will show you how unboxing pictures of the Mark I, Mark VI and Power Assault armor, without the actual unboxing, because that would take up too much space with too many pictures. The order at which I do is the order with which I released them from their plastic cages. Mel helped me take pics and unbox.
MARK I
The Mark I is a really nice figure because you can’t fuck up the paint on this thing. You can ask a child with a minor learning disability to paint this thing and it will still look like Mark I.
It slipped out of the packaging quite easily. Well, they all did, in fact.
Mark I came with what I think should be a flamethrower, but it actually is just a cannon with a fire-colored missle. Same thing happened with the 6″ one. They should come out with a way to attach a Zippo on one of those things. I especially liked those armor cards because you can mix and match them with other figures. You can came up with some weird shit. Try putting the classic stealth arms with Mark III legs with Mark I’s body. It is a freak.
All the joints on Mark I were tight except for the wrists, which I really didn’t mind so much. At least they didn’t feel like they were going to break if you forced them to move. The bits that needed to be tight were, and the rest were moveable and fun to play with. It’s got shoulder, elbow, wrist twist, some torso twist, ball joint hips, twist head, peg feet and single jointed knees.
Mark I has incredible detail. I mean it. It has some of the best and most intricate detailing on all the figs from this line. The motor at the back, the things over the arm, the big chest plate, up the gears at his side - they’re all there. It’s a beautiful figure.
Mark I can swing his gigantic orange dildo machine all day.
Here it is with the flame thrower, which surprisingly doesn’t look half bad. It still looks cooler without it, though. Check it out.
Mark I says, “I will punch you… IN THE FEZ!”
The Mark VI is the seemingly the last armor Iron Man gets to use in the new movie. It is the one with the improved body and triangular chest light thing. I liked this armor so much, I made it the main one in my armory.
Here it is, right out of the card. Maybe I should call this the uncarding series? Anyway, it’s pretty standard. Three cards, a stand, a launcher for some reason and the figure itself.
I have an issue with those stands now, actually. When I have them standing next to each other, the slots for the cards take up a lot of space and make it very difficult to get them close to one another. I was hoping I could get stands for these bad boys from GreenHills toy stores without those slots.
Again, like the Mark I, the joints were tight, especially the ball jointed hips. It took quite a bit of effort just to get them to move. Fortunately, they didn’t break off. At least, not yet. The hands get removed quite easily. I found out, thanks to Slangards that the hands are interchangable with the Mark IV. I now have Mark VI with two open palms and Mark IV has two closed fists. They both look cool.
It has neck, shoulder, single joint elbows, twist wrists, ball jointed hips, double jointed knees and very little foot articulation.
The paint is a bit dirty, yes, but it’s shiny! Right out of the box, the first thing I noticed about the Mark VI is that it was as oily as a sweaty man in a doughnut shop. I’m not entirely sure why it was that oily, but I assume it’s to make the figure more shiny. The shine really did take my mind off the minor paint fuck ups, though.
The launcher, as soon as I figure out a way to mount it on the Power Assault armor, will be a part of my permanent display.

My only problem with the Mark VI (and Mark IV) is the way the head moves. It kinda goes sideway when you twist it to the left or right. The Mark III doesn’t do it so much.
Power Assault Armor
The Power Assault armor is one of them concept series ones. Thankfully, for this line, they aren’t concept repaints. This one’s got a whole new sculpt, and I gotta give it up to the toy designers - the sculpt is fucking viscious. The armor doesn’t appear in comics nor in the movie, but I vote that it does in whatever medium.
Its launcher is a bit bigger than normal, because of the sculpt of the arms. Everything standard comes with Power Assault- cards, stand, launcher and ammo.
The Power Assault armor looks downright fierce and intimidating. Let’s put it this way, the Mark I is built like a clunky tank, kinda like an M1 Abrams tank - powerful, and maneuverable, but not nearly as fast as a car or even a fucking cheetah. The Mark VI looks like the F22 Raptor, with all the power and flight and sleekness. The Mark II and III is a mixture of both, but it still lacks the intimidation factor. The Power Assault, however, gets the mixture of sleekness sexiness and intimidating fierceness.
With that, I can easily say this is probably my favorite sculpt out of all the figures. The shoulder jets, the forearm magazines and the reinforced legs just make it look so bad ass. Also, surprisingly, the paint on this figure is quite good, and it’s good across the board, on all figures of the same make.
Joints are tight, especially the hips, which made it difficult to pose. The shoulder joints move like they should, but at a certain point, the shoulder pads pop off. It also has a neck joint, single elbow, wrist twist, ball joint hips, single knee and again retardedly limited foot articulation.
Go ahead. Call it a dildo. I dare you. I WILL BLOW YOUR FUCKING HOUSE UP WHILE YOUR FAMILY SLEEPS!
Connecting the launcher on top or at the bottom of his arm looks cool either way.

Currently, only this and the HyperVelocity have their launchers while displayed in the armory.
