3.75" MU Extremis Iron Man Review
June 25, 2010The latest shipment of Hammer Files toys came in today, and it looks like one of the better stocked figures is the Extremis. When I made this action figure review, it was still particularly rare and only a few figures were released here. I had to get mine from Singapore because as luck would have it, Mel, the girlfriend went on vacation there.
I made a video but before you watch it, please accept my apology for mispronouncing the words “Extremis” and “dossier.” I know better now. I shot this pretty early in the day so you’ll hear that cock crow over and over. I’m sorry about that, too. Here’s the video:
It is a wonderful, fantastic figure! The sculpt, the paint, the color - it’s really good. The articulation could use a little work, but all in all, it’s a solid figure.
I especially like how accurate the figure is. I mean, most Marvel figures are, but the Wave 1 Iron Man figure was hard to place. It had elements of Extremis, and people started calling it that, but it was obvious that it wasn’t the Extremis suit. The latest Iron Man figure, however, mirrors the comic look quite perfectly.
Wouldn’t you say that looks amazing? The detail is incredible. Every plate, from the helmet, to the neck, to the chest, to the back, to the ab plates, to the discs, to the contours in the thighs, to the boots even down to the toes. Everything is spot on.
There are some paint problems like the pinkish parts, but like I mentioned in the video, that’s the problem of metallic red paint. Other than that, it’s pretty well colored. Articulation, though, is the biggest problem of this figure but I suppose you can say that for the entire line. Even their Spider-Man felt too restricted. Ball joint hips, Hasbro? Please?
I went from a man being trapped in an iron suit… to a man being freed by it.
I won’t lie to you. I like the Hall of Armor Mark VI a little more than the Extremis but only by a very slight margin. Like flip a coin type margin. I do put it a mile ahead of the Wave I MU Iron Man, though.
The detail on both figures are just jaw-dropping and both figures are gorgeous, but Wave I Iron Man was too thin with a body that’s too rectangular. I mean, if Tony Stark came out of that suit, he’d be a starving little anorexic woman. The Extremis also suffers from that, but seeing as how it is slightly chunkier than the modern Iron Man suit, it gets the advantage.
Now that the Extremis Iron Man is no longer rare, I recommend you go to SM Megamall Toy Kingdom and buy the fuck out of it. But don’t hoard. There were still about 8-10 pieces left around 4PM this afternoon. Go pick Extremis up, he is aweome.

man, you know after i got over owning one after a long time of waiting i can’t un-see his big, meaty, metal thighs. personally though i like to wear his shoulderpads inversed, it makes him look 1% more accurate than he already is.
