July 16, 2010I ganked this picture from Comic Book Movie, a pretty reliable resource on all panel-to-celluloid media. I guess it’s a pretty safe bet that this first look will be pretty much what’ll be in the movie.

It’s amazing. I didn’t think it was possible to fuck up one of the simplest yet coolest looking costumes in the history of comic books. I sincerely can’t even begin to imagine how the FLYING FUCK they ended up with this. Did some bitch ass designer think the original suit didn’t have enough… VEINS?! FUCK YOU, HOLLYWOOD!

Okay, okay, okay. Maybe they thought the costume was too dorky and had to modernize it a bit. Okay, I get that. Let’s see what a properly modernized Green Lantern suit looks like.
That’s from Green Lantern: First Flight. See? No white gloves, which some people might not like so much, and no bathing suit. It’s not the original, but it’s good enough. I wouldn’t mind seeing a live action movie with that costume.
This is a screencap from a fan-made Green Lantern film trailer with Nathan Fillon as Hal Jordan. Check this out - faithful to the comic book almost 100% except for the seams yet it looks really GOOD. How could you fuck up a costume as simple as that?!
Yes, I know. I’ll still watch the fuck out of it the same way I still watched the fuck out of X-Men. See, I watched the hell out of Iron Man, too. Guess which movie I liked better?

The costume would be actually acceptable if the kept the black areas. If he’s going to be all-green, ohgod it’ll be like watching a naked Ryan Reynolds.
I know Steel likes that kind of stuff, but not everyone’s as perverted as Steel.
