As impartial as I try to be to all superheroes, I can’t deny that I do have my favorites. I guess by now, if you’ve read a couple posts from this blog, you’d have an idea of who they are. At the very top would be Daredevil. I’ve always had a soft spot for street level guys. Others included in the favorites list would be Cyclops, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Moon Knight.

There’s one character, though, who I’ve always found massively interesting and I really hate how he gets shafted most of the time in favor of the characters who draws more money. This is why this bit of news has got me jizzing my shorts.

Iron Fist has been rumored to get the movie treatment for a good few years now, methinks. Whether it’s been stuck in development hell like the Wonder Woman or the Justice League movie or maybe the rumors just aren’t true, I was almost ready to believe that this project will not the the light of day. That is until Deadline revealed something so nerve-wrackingly exciting.

Deadline says that Marvel sealed a deal with screenwriter, Rich Wilkes to work on the Iron Fist movie. My balls are jittery with excitement, seeing as Disney is making good on its promise to make the lesser known Superheroes… well, less lesser known, I guess. Those fuckers at Disney are marketing gods, I tells you.

To give us an idea of what we’re in for, let’s check out what Wilkes has done in the past. Wilkes wrote xXx, with Vin Diesel, so we know he can do action. Well before that, he did Airheads, which wasn’t so bad. Nothing else he’s worked on barely rings a bell. Yikes. I hope he pulls this off, yeah?

Also part of the rumors that have been floating around the Internet is the actor supposedly being eyed to play Danny Rand. It is none other than Mr. Ray Park himself. Now, I know Park is a great performer. He kicked ass as Darth Maul and he was cool as Toad and he didn’t do so bad in Heroes. Thing is, after G.I. Joe, I don’t know what to believe anyore. If the best fight scene in your movie was between two kids who don’t have pubic hair yet, then there’s something wrong.

I know Ray Park is a great martial artist. He loves his craft and he’s extremely good at it. But is he an actor actor? I mean, he hasn’t really played a lead. Hell, how many lines has he actually had? And Danny Rand, even though sometimes the silent kung fu master, can be a bit of a wiseass sometimes. I’m afraid that Park just might not have the acting chops to pull off a character as deep as Rand.

So, if not him, who then? For the life of me, I cannot think of a halfway decent white martial artist actor besides Park. I don’t want some pansy-ass pretty boy to be cast as Rand. The guy has to know how to kick ass. Anyway, moving on.

Thing is, you can’t really have an Iron Fist movie without Luke Cage, yes? If this movie does launch, for sure it’ll be Heroes for Hire. There’s really no other way you can deliver it otherwise. So, who do you think should play Luke Cage? We’ve got a few ideas.

Oh, and if you noticed I didn’t mention Tyrese Gibson? Well, that’s because Luke Cage isn’t supposed to give off that douchebag vibe, so he’s out. 50 Cent, too.
